(Manchester, IL) -- Five people are dead and one is injured after a shooting in Manchester, Illinois. Authorities say one suspect is in custody following this morning's shooting in the small village about 50 miles west of Springfield. Manchester has a population of about 350 people. Schools in neighboring Jacksonville, North Greene and Winchester are closed today as Illinois State Police investigate.

Update: Illinois Shooting Suspect Dead

(Manchester, IL)  --  The suspect accused of gunning down five people in the small town of Manchester, Illinois is dead.  State Police say they captured the suspect this morning after a gun battle.  He was later transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say a six-year-old girl survived the shooting.  She's being treated an area hospital.  Investigators don't believe there are any more suspects and the community isn't in any more danger.
