It was another violent weekend in New York City.

The New York Post reports 12 people were shot during a 5 hour span, including three people who were killed.

The gunfire began Saturday night and continued into early Sunday morning, with shootings reported in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

This is the third straight weekend where at least 12 people were shot.  Last weekend, 15 people were struck by gunfire.  The weekend before, 21 people were shot.

Through the first six months of the year, shootings were up 8 percent.

In response, the NYPD has launched “Summer All Out,” which is moving over 300 cops from desk duty to the streets.
